What we LOVE about our SOPHIA!

In honor of Valentine's Day, I decided to post just a few of the things that make parenthood so AWESOME!

The Top Ten Things Kris and I Love about our Princess Sophia

10. Winging (aka swinging) and Singing The Wheels on Bus, Muffin Man and B-I-N-G-O all at the same time and watching her sing along.

9. Hearing her say "My Do It" and realizing we have the best little helper who wants nothing more than to be by our side helping us each step of the way.

8. Baking and making a complete mess in the kitchen, but loving every minute of it! Those types of messes mean we have had fun and spent quality time together!

7. Laying in bed next to her watching her peacefully sleep while we dream about her future.

6. Playing with her toys (building, cooking, reading, jumping)...it brings us back to our childhood days and makes us want to create the same great experiences and memories we had while growing up for her!

5. Saturday morning taco dates. (She loves her breakfast tacos and it has become our ritual. She even tells them what she wants on it and then normally consumes the entire thing.)

4. Watching her excitement grow as she prepares to "feed" the animals....whether we are feeding ducks, turkeys, puppies, kitties, cows, fish, etc. she takes pride in her ability to take care of her animal friends!

3. When she reaches towards you with arms wide open to give you the biggest hug in the world!

2. The way she says her name ("Phia") and smiles when she says it. She even has started adding her last name at times and so it sounds like "Phia Barlels." Way too cute!

1. When she tells us "I Love You Mommy" or "I Love You Daddy." There is no greater feeling in the world than the random I Love You's that come from a two year old! They make everything better!
I could go on and on, but I'll save the rest for a future post!
Happy Valentine's Day 2011!

Smiles All Around...

Saturday we dropped everything, loaded up the car, and headed towards Austin. We had a plan, well we sort of had a plan. We met Randy (or OG)in Giddings for breakfast tacos where Sophia devoured hers. We got back in our car and drove to the Austin Children's museum where Sophia had a blast with all of the cool toys and exhibits. (side note: Thank goodness there were two of us and one of her because it was quite a work out to keep up with her sensory overloaded body). We then went to the Domain in Austin and walked around and eventually ate at Maggianos before we came home.

It may not sound like the most exciting day to some, but for us it was a wonderful day. The best part was though most of our activities centered around Sophia, Kris and I thoroughly enjoyed the day as well. We had a great time. After all, when you are a parent and you watch your child's eyes light up at each new and exciting adventure, it's hard not to have a smile on your face. Thank goodness for days like this because they are what reminds you to stop, slow down and enjoy the scenery!

It's raining snow!

This morning at 6am I awoke to Sophia hollering "Momma come here a second." I knew with such cold and icy weather we would be able to take our time getting up so I went to her room, climbed in bed with her and told her to go back to sleep. However, our little princess was not having it. She did not want to get out of bed necessarily. She just wanted to know if it was raining. (She has been worried ever since our bad wind storm the other night about the bad things wind and rain can do.)

I told her it was not raining, but in an hour we would get up and look if it had snowed. And that's when it began....She sat up in bed turned her head, just as she does when she has a serious question to ask, and said "Momma it's raining snow???"

At that point, I was able to lay there with her a few more minutes before more questions began, "Momma I wanna see snow." So our adventure began and we s l o w l y got up, bundled up and went outside. Thankfully she had her brief time looking around and walking in the little accumulation of snow and was ready to run back inside! And that was just fine with me. I'll take the warm over the cold any day! I was, however, glad she was able to see it snow for her third straight year!

Friends for life

It's one thing to have some pretty awesome best friends, but life takes on a whole new meaning when you have some pretty awesome best friends with some super cool kiddos! We were finally able to have our "Friend Christmas 2010" party Saturday night and I must say we had a great time. The best part was watching our children interact and play. I will admit I spent a decent amount of time on the floor in the middle of the living room just playing right along with them. There is nothing like playtime with these four to realize what life is all about!
